The 2011 Apollo Stakes has really captured the enthusiasm of punters right around Australia.

The money has been flooding in for a few runners in the field with Hot Danish charging to favouritism at $3.50 fixed price at online book makers Luxbet.

Her place price has been backed nearly into nothing, not surprising given the mare hasn’t missed a place since mid way through 2009 with an overall place percentage of 80 percent.

It’s by no means a one horse race though with plenty of others well below double figures.

Love Conquers All is second in the line of betting less than a dollar outside Hot Danish at around the $4.40 fixed price mark.

The stallion has powered to six victories from his 12 career races with a very impressive second in the last Start Expressway Stakes adding to the quality of his resume.

There are two main doubts over this horse though, one is having drawn the widest gate and the second is having never won over this distance. Both issues certainly not enough to completely discount him though.

Third in betting at the moment is Melito at $4.80 who has shown a good deal of consistency in recent runs after being a little erratic early in its career.

Of course Centennial Park was always going to gain a great deal of support after claiming the Expressway Stakes in impressive style. Despite this great show of form he certainly hasn’t been backed off the chart with some punters still unconvinced as to the real quality about this horse. Current prices are steady at $6 and could go either way before the race jumps.

The final contender who should never be discounted is of course champion galloper Danleigh.

He’s without a win for over a year but his overall career in enviable. With nearly $2 million alongside his name and a host of victories his class should certainly show through in the Apollo Stakes. If you fancy him you can get around $8 fixed price and a little more on the fluctuations.

If you’ve decided they’re all too close and just want the best odds you can then you could show blind faith for Run For Naara at odds well out over $100.

For the best odds on the 2011 Apollo Stakes and every other big race on the calendar register an account with Luxbet now.

The 2010 Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes (1500m) will be the major feature of the Rosehill races run this Saturday.

In the odds over at SportsBet, the race looks to be between two horses – Parables and More Strawberries. Both are coming from impressive starts in their Spring Carnival campaigns, and both have a recent win over the other.

Parables is leading the odds at $2.25 to win at SportsBet, with More Strawberries right behind at $2.70. Parables has barrier 2 and More Strawberries has barrier 3. More Strawberries beat Parables in the Group 2 Furious Stakes, but Parables beat More Strawberries by a greater margin in the Group 3 Silver Shadow Stakes.

We recommend a quinella on Parables and More Strawberries at SportsBet. When the top contenders look as close as this, you can’t be certain of who will win, but the first and second places seem like a lock.

The 2010 Group 2 Shannon Stakes (1500m) will be held at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse on Saturday during Tea Rose Stakes Day.

Leading the odds at SportsBet is Neeson, with early market odds of $2.80. Neeson will start from barrier 5 carrying 57kg. The 4 year old gelding recently won the Group 3 Tramway Quality Handicap (1400m), and this is his first start in a Group 2 race.

The closest to Neeson in the odds is Once Were Wild, priced at $5.50 at SportsBet. Once Were Wild is starting from barrier 3, and will be carrying 58kg. Just missing out on a win in the Listed Mona Lisa Stakes recently, Once Were Wild has had a good record in distance races, including a win in the Group 1 AJC Oaks earlier this year.

Our tip is to go with a Neeson and Once Were Wild quinella. To place a bet on the 2010 Shannon Stakes, join SportsBet now!

The 2010 Group 2 Hill Stakes (1900m) will be run on Saturday as part of Tea Rose Stakes Day, one of many featured Group 2 runs.

In the odds over at SportsBet, Purple is in the lead at $3.00. The 5 year old mare has yet to impress this season, having only picked up a third place finish in the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes earlier this month. Nevertheless, a barrier 4 start and lots of experience running distance races could give Purple the edge she needs.

Another favoured runner in the odds at SportsBet is Triple Honour, starting in barrier 2. The 7 year old gelding has a recent second place finish in the Group 2 Warwick Stakes, but the sheen was taken off this win with a fourth place finish in the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes.

Our pick for this race is Hawk Island, a 5 year old gelding from Ireland who is stepping up to a Group 2 challenge after a string of wins in lesser races. A long career spent running at this 1900 metre distance or longer makes Hawk Island look irresistible at $8.50 in the odds at SportsBet.

The 2010 Group 2 Premiere Stakes (1200m) will be one of the many Group races run at Rosehill on Saturday, and it almost looks decided before it has even begun.

Over at SportsBet, the 7 year old Hot Danish is leading the odds at a very short $1.55. This champion mare has maintained her speed over the years, recently topping an 802 metre barrier trial with a 48.10 second run. Starting from barrier 4, Hot Danish is set to dominate this year’s Premiere Stakes.

Following far behind at SportsBet is Hinchinbrook at $4.60. Carrying just 52 kg and starting from barrier 2, Hinchinbrook has a lot of variables on his side. Comparable barrier trials to those of Hot Danish also suggest that Hinchinbrook may have a bit more speed than his recent races would lead you to believe.

Our tip is to back a Hot Danish/Hinchinbrook quinella. Hot Danish looks almost unstoppable in this field, but a Hinchinbrook upset looks likely enough that it could pay to be cautious with a quinella. If you want to bet on this or any of the other Rosehill races this weekend, join SportsBet now!

The Group 1 Golden Rose will be run on Saturday at Rosehill Racecourse, starting at 3:50PM as race 6 on the card.

Leading the odds at SportsBet is Crystal Lily at $4.20, though she is followed closely by Masquerader at $4.40.

Crystal Lily had a Golden Slipper win earlier this year and recently placed second in the Listed Quezette Stakes. It looks good for the 3 year old filly, though this will be the longest race she has ever run in.

Masquerader has the advantage of having run second in the Run to the Rose several weeks ago, coming in just behind Squamosa. While the Run to the Rose was not quite as long as the Golden Rose will be, it is still closer to the distance than any race that Crystal Lily has run.

Run to the Rose winner Squamosa is also running in this race, with odds of $12 at SportsBet. This looks like an incredible bet to make at first glance, as Squamosa has yet to lose a race in three starts. However, the colt has drawn barrier 14 and seems unlikely to make up for it.

A place bet on Squamosa in the Golden Rose odds at SportsBet looks to be great value, and the current price stands at a very decent $3.60.

The Group 3 Concorde Stakes will be run at Rosehill Racecourse on Saturday, starting at 2:40PM as race 4.

Top of the odds at SportsBet are Reward For Effort and Patronyme at $3.80.

Reward For Effort shot to fame last year by handily winning the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes. The plucky runner has more recently won the Sir John Monash Stakes and looks a good chance to take the Concorde Stakes before moving on to bigger things later this season.

A win bet on Reward For Effort at SportsBet is looking good, and a place bet looks almost certain to pay off.

Patronyme has a lot more experience, but that experience has been quite mixed. The current faith in Patronyme may be due to a Birthday Card Stakes win earlier this year and a recent exceptional barrier trial run. Nevertheless, it is hard to favour the mare above Reward For Effort, who has better momentum.

A place bet on Patronyme at SportsBet could be worthwhile, but a win seems unlikely in the face of better competition. An exacta of Reward For Effort/Patronyme has its charms.

The other likely contender is Winter King at $4.80 in the Concorde Stakes odds at SportsBet. This is a step back up in competition for the 4 year old, and it seems odd that he is being backed so strongly. However, a barrier 2 start could make all the difference, and definitely puts Winter King in with a shot.

Rosehill Gardens Racecourse will run its preparation race for the Group 1 Golden Rose on Saturday – the Group 3 Run to the Rose. While not every entrant is also set to race in the Golden Rose, many of these Thoroughbreds will compete in that prestigious run.

The Run to the Rose has drawn 12 runners this year, with Squamosa from Gai Waterhouse looking to be the favourite at SportsBet. With an unbeaten record in two races, Squamosa will have a decent challenge on her hands when she starts from barrier 9.

Squamosa’s main competition will likely be Masquerader, another horse unbeaten in two, which includes a win in the Group 2 Todman Slipper Trial. It should be a match up to remember, and hopefully it will set the stage for a legendary Golden Rose later this season.

[iasbetbox]

Rosehill’s coveted Golden Slipper Day, the biggest event on the Sydney autumn carnival calendar, is set to take place this Easter Saturday featuring nine elite events to excite and entertain the crowds.

The headline race at the meeting, the one everyone will be there to watch and bet on, is the illustrious $3.5million Group 1 AAMI Golden Slipper (1200m), featuring 15 of the nation’s most promising and talented two-year-olds.

Currently the pre-race favourite for the 2010 Golden Slipper is unbeaten Gold Coast-trained filly Military Rose, the brilliant and versatile juvenile sitting at the top of the betting markets at $3.80 with IASbet.

But a wide barrier eight draw for Military Rose and uncertain track conditions have opened the 2010 Golden Slipper field right up, with any number of talented youngsters well positioned to take out the title.

Other top contenders include the Gai Waterhouse-trained colt Brightexpectations drawn ideally in barrier four and coming straight off an impressive win in the Group 2 Pago Pago Stakes (1200m), Beneteau in barrier six with Michael Rodd aboard, and two fast starting fillies Crystal Lily and Chance Bye drawn in barriers one and three respectively.

The two opening races at Rosehill on Saturday are Listed events to draw in the spectators, but the first Group status race of the day will be race three at 1:05pm, the $400, 000 Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes, also known as the Storm Queen Stakes.

16 brilliant three-year-old fillies are set to take to the track in the 2010 Vinery Stud Stakes including the Bart Cummings-trained Faint Perfume currently battling for favouritism with the likes of Valdemoro and the Peter Moody’s Set For Fame.

Following the Storm Queen Stakes is another excellent Group 1 race, the $400, 000 Queen of the Turf Stakes (1500m). This year the Queen of the Turf Stakes’ betting has been totally dominated by Australia’s highest rated mare, Typhoon Tracy in barrier 10.

Typhoon Tracy, a winner of nine of her 12 career starts, faces some of her toughest competition on Saturday including another from the Gai Waterhouse stable, More Joyous in barrier six, and the well positioned Sister Madly in barrier one.

Race five on the card for Saturday is the second biggest and most lucrative race at the meeting, the highly anticipated $2.25million Group 1 The BMW (2400m). Again, premier Sydney trainer Gai Waterhouse has the odds-on favourite in the event with Theseo in barrier eight.

Following race seven, the Golden Slipper, two more quality group races will take place to finish off a sensational day of racing.

Race eight is the $150, 000 Group 2 MYER Tulloch Stakes (2000m) featuring staying champions trained by many of Australia’s best trainers. The line-up includes the Peter Snowden-trained Kidnapped in barrier eight, the Gai Waterhouse-trained Descarado in barrier seven and two from the stables of John Thompson, Count Encosta (barrier one) and Shamardashing (barrier five).

The closing race at Rosehill on Saturday will be the $125, 000 Group 3 The Sebring Stakes (1100m), an exciting sprint dash featuring Swift Alliance and the David Payne-trained More Than Great.
