Rosehill Gardens Racecourse will run its preparation race for the Group 1 Golden Rose on Saturday – the Group 3 Run to the Rose. While not every entrant is also set to race in the Golden Rose, many of these Thoroughbreds will compete in that prestigious run.
The Run to the Rose has drawn 12 runners this year, with Squamosa from Gai Waterhouse looking to be the favourite at SportsBet. With an unbeaten record in two races, Squamosa will have a decent challenge on her hands when she starts from barrier 9.
Squamosa’s main competition will likely be Masquerader, another horse unbeaten in two, which includes a win in the Group 2 Todman Slipper Trial. It should be a match up to remember, and hopefully it will set the stage for a legendary Golden Rose later this season.
