Tye Angland, the in-form Sydney jockey who rode Scouting Wide to a brilliant all-the-way victory at Rosehill’s Listed Christmas Cup (2400m) last weekend, now has his sights set on the $200 000 Listed Lough Neagh Doomben Stakes (1350m).
Angland will mount the highly fancied Nick Olive-trained Voice Commander in the feature race at Doomben this Saturday, and his long-term goal is to pair with the horse again for next month’s $500 000 Magic Million Cup and the Gold Coast.
Voice Commander has had Angland has his regular rider for over 18 months and the duo have won five from their fifteen races together.
Angland has the chance to secure three stakes wins in as many weeks as following the Doomben Stakes he plans to return to Rosehill Gardens with Christmas Cup-winner Scouting Wide for the Summer Cup on Boxing Day.
